A bit of Non cycling

It wasn’t quite cycling but it was still on two wheels.  This past weekend we hit the North Coast with the camera in toe to watch Ireland’s biggest sporting event the North West 200.  They said it would rain but the rain kept away, the sun stayed out and the crowds were in the hundreds of thousands as we were treated to another classic days racing.

A bunch of great photos as shot by Eric Blayney can be found here

The only downside was the interuptions of the Superbike Races.  Both had red flag incidents, one was stopped early and the other re-started as just a two lap race.  Still all races where neck to neck and nearly all came down to the last few corners to be won.  Thankfully our usual standing point along the coast road includes some of the fastest straights as well as some of them final corners so you really get to see the race being decided.  We watched the racing from a bunch of different spots along that coast road with the final race giving us probably the best view point of them all up top of the Black Hill.

Bruce Ansty was the man of the day taking three wins.  He was the first man to win three times in the one day for quite some time and it was made even more impressive since he had a big crash in the first race of the day, big enough that it caused that Superbike race to be red-flagged.  He bounced back to win the next race and then take two others including that final race.
