On the Back Straight After a Savage 110km Mountain Bike Race

It’s all downhill from here, right? Well not quite, but yesterday’s stage marked the halfway point in the Trans Rockies and also marked the end of the longest stage of the race. A 110km slog through the mountains was won by the Italian pair who have been in charge of this event from the start and so they retain their lead. Further down the pack Matty and Sam continued to improve on their finishing position by the day, coming in 33rd on this stage under 2 hours back on the winners. It was good enough for 4th best Brit/Irish team and so boosts their overall standings yet again to 40th place and 6th Brit/Irish team. No word out of the camp so far today so we’ll assume all is well.
The boys are back on the trail today again with an 88km stage. It will be interesting to see if they can improve on their finishing position yet again.
