Sunday 4th February 2007 sees the return of the CRC Winter series to Moneyscalp forest outside Newcastle. With the success of the first two rounds with approx 160 riders attending both events, a large crowd and a great race is expected.

Please note: Winter league round 3 is a one day event and takes place only on Sunday. On Saturday 3rd a motorcycle trials event is taking place in Moneyscalp and during this time the trials riders have right of way in the forest including parking etc. The trials club have agreed not to use our downhill track for any of their sections. Please respect them during their event.

Another issue with numbers is parking. Riders please be aware of where you are parking and are asked to not park or block people’s driveways. Failure to do so may result in access to the forest being denied for future events.

The following is a summary of the race categories for 2007 and will hopefully give riders an indication of which category they should be competing in.

U14 - Youth - 13 or 14 years of age in current year

U16 - 15 or 16 years of age in current year

Junior - 17 or 18 years of age in current year

Vets - Any riders over 40

Ladies - All female riders

Master - 30 years of age or over in current year

Sport - (over 18) Riders who are new to racing, who don’t race regularly or who don’t intend to race in every event. - Those riders who are just in it for the fun.

Senior - (over 18) Riders who are very serious about the event, are of a high standard and are able to do all the jumps, drops and put in fast times.

Elite - (over 18) Professional riders or extremely fast amateurs, that is, riders of a World Cup standard and who have ambitions of riding at this level.

Cost of entry

Seniors/Masters/ Vets/Ladies/Juniors £15 Stg or 20 Euro

U14/U16 £10 Stg or 15 Euros

+ RACE LICENCE

You must have a race licence to race and you can choose between a full licence or a day licence.

Full licence

You can choose between a full international licence or an MTB only licence. You get these from cycling Ireland through a club or as a private member. Once you buy one of these you wont have to pay anything more than the race entry fee.

Day Licence

Any rider who does not hold a 2007 race licence needs to obtain a day licence. Day licences cost £10Stg or 15 Euro for all riders except youth riders (U14/U16) - A race licence for U14 and U16s will cost £3.50Stg or 5 Euro.

A day licence will not automatically make you a member of Cycling Ireland, and therefore, anyone wishing to compete in the national championships in Rostrevor in July, and who doesn’t have a full licence will not be eligible for medal (and also your race place will not be counted).

If you intend to race in the national championships, it is recommended you purchase a full Cycling Ireland licence immediately as each day licence fee cannot be claimed back towards the purchase of a full licence.
