Another win for Seymour

October 23rd, 2006 by Ricky Blayney

By Shane Stokes

irishcycling.com — National champion Robin Seymour showed his form with a dominant win in the Leinster cyclo cross race held in Corkagh Park yesterday. The Endura rider overcame a puncture midway through the race to finish one minute and eleven seconds ahead of two promising young riders, Lewis Ferguson and Niall Davis. Peter McConville was fourth, 4 minutes and17 seconds back, while Robert Lamont, Mark McKinely, Yvain Sogno, Mike Jordan, Conor Cambell and Dave Gill completed the top ten. It was Seymour’s third cross win in three starts, the Wicklow rider having also triumphed at Lurgan Park and Larne this month.

62 riders lined out for the nine lap event, held on a version of the course used in the national cyclo-cross championships in January. Seymour, Ferguson and Davis pulled clear of the rest of the field and it was soon clear that the race was between the three of them.

Delay on comment approvals

October 19th, 2006 by Ricky Blayney

G’day all.. Just to apologise for the delay on approving some of the comments lately.  Been quite busy and haven’t had the chance to check the site and missed the messages telling me comments where waiting for approval.  Just so yous know however, as well as the comments theres also a messageboard open with a section on mountainbike ride guides as well.  It also includes other sections including road racing and touring.  I’ll be sure to keep an eye on the site more often from now on…

Cheers, Ricky

Robin Seymour (Team Worc) easily won the second race of the Cyclo Cross season, held on Saturday at the Seacourt Community Centre in Larne, County Antrim. The Wicklow rider took the East Antrim Audi promoted event by storm to win by almost three minutes. This was the first ever cyclo cross to be held in Larne and was an undoubted success, as the race organisers received excellent backing from Larne Borough Council and the staff and youths from the Seacourt Centre.

Cyclo-Cross season is go

October 9th, 2006 by Ricky Blayney

By Andy Potts

The 2006 Cyclo Cross season began in superb fashion on Sunday with Apollo CT promoting the opening race in Lurgan Park, Irish Champion Robin Seymour taking a controlled victory. Fifty three riders came to the line for the Senior race which was over eight laps of a new, fast flowing course. As always the main event was supported by a full programme of Youth races.

The Senior event began in spectacular style as the fifty three riders jockeyed for position as they charged up the opening section, Apollo rider Alistair McSorley leading the action. By the end of the first lap McSorley still held the lead, however in a close second was Robin Seymour, in turn followed by a pack consisting of Phillip Roche, Robbie Lamont, Brian Conway, Lewis Ferguson, Peter McConville and Mark McKinley.
